Discover the magic of turning existing text into fresh, expressive poetry. In this creative and meditative workshop, participants will explore blackout poetry—an art form where you transform book pages, articles, or printed text into poetic works by obscuring the words you don’t need and highlighting the ones you do.
Through guided exercises, you’ll learn how to:
• Select text that sparks inspiration
• Identify unexpected phrases and hidden narratives
• Use markers, ink, collage, or simple shapes to “black out” the page
• Add visual elements to enhance mood, rhythm, and meaning
• Create a series of poems that reflect your voice and perspective
No poetry or art experience is necessary—just an openness to experiment and play. All materials are provided, though you’re welcome to bring your own pages or favorite texts to work from.
Join us for a relaxed, imaginative session where ordinary pages become extraordinary poems.
